Mixed Media painting techniques course (yellow)
Mixed Media painting techniques course (yellow)
Starts Friday September 13, 2024 in the afternoon or evening
Location: Hart Haarlem - Kleine houtweg 18
With mixed media painting you incorporate materials into your work or you use different ways to apply color (no computer is used). The work is built up layer by layer and you decide what is visible at the end. Of course you can choose your own colors and shape. Even though we all make more or less the same steps, the work at the end of the lesson is all different.
The images below are examples of the 8 lessons in this block. For a brief explanation of the different lessons, watch my YouTube video! It's an old video so the lessons are a little different.
During the lessons we work with different materials, so that in addition to knowledge of materials, you will also discover what appeals to you and thus develop your own style. Other parts of the lessons are:
- Color theory
- Composition
- Painting techniques
- Work intuitively
It is not necessary to be able to draw. We work on paper, which you could later bind into a book. This way you have a reference book of all the techniques learned. At the end of each lesson we discuss the work.
Materials
Because we will be working with so many materials, most materials are included in the lessons. At the end of each lesson we briefly discuss the next lesson, so that you can see for yourself whether you want to bring any additional materials.
Please bring the following materials with you:
- Flat brush of 1 to 1.5 cm wide (a short handle is sufficient). If you know that you like to work precisely, take some smaller brushes with you.
- Apron
- Pair of scissors
- Plastic for the table: a cut-open garbage bag is sufficient
- Painter's tape (1 cm wide) to stick your paper
- Plate with cling film, which can serve as a pallet
- Water container/pot, e.g. a yogurt bucket
- Possibly your favorite colors of acrylic paint
Dates
Starts in September. Dates to follow in March.
Blocks
There are a total of 3 blocks with 8 lessons in each block. It doesn't matter in which block you start. The name of the blocks - yellow, red, blue - was chosen to keep the blocks apart. It says nothing about the color we are working with. A number of (popular) techniques appear in a different form in all blocks. There is also a lesson on textiles in each block.
